Emmy-winner Martinez watched mesmerized as Dern repeatedly changed his villainous variations of 'Longhair' in scene after frightening scene, going deeper into character in take after take of the Mark Rydell-directed classic.

Dern wasn't the only one on that revered Western to offer acting tips. Duke himself gave the young Marinez pointers on what it takes to sell a movie punch in a fight. Always observant, the young actor was cast in an early role on his family's favorite, 'BONANZA,' and got to see his heroes firsthand, witnessing the genius of Michael Landon in working out and improving a complex scene.
