Welcome To Prime Mascots , Becoming a Mascot is Hard work and requires Practice. Mascots play a very important role in building brand recognition, loyalty, and interest. A mascot’s job is a combination of several elements; part athlete, mime, actor, and clown! Mascot performing takes practice and patience to acquire the necessary skills to build great performances that engage adults and children alike. Section one:Preparation and Costume Malfunction
Preparation: It’s important to be Knowledgeable about the Mascot Costume and What you should wear underneath! In some Cases you may need a handler to help you get in and out of the costume. But getting ready starts even before you put on the first piece of the mascot costume.
No one like to come near a smelly mascot or performer.
What you should wear underneath your mascot:
Balaclavas , long gloves too are great for attention to details.
Getting in and out of the costume will become much easier and quicker with practice.
Costume Malfunction: Here are some tips on what to do if something goes wrong with your mascot costume.
To reduce the chances of mascot malfunctions you should check in the mirror to see how your mascot looks before you perform .Malfunctions will happens!
Here are 10 mascot tips that you can follow to be a great mascot performer
1. Never let anyone in public see you change into or out of your mascot costume.
Exaggerate all of your movements and gestures. From walking and waving, to showing emotions - everything should be grand and larger than life.
3. Embody the emotions you want to portray and Gestures:
When you're wearing a mascot costume, emotions can be difficult to communicate and exaggerated gestures to portray emotions such as happiness, sadness, surprise, shyness
Here are Some Basic Emotions To use while performing
Happy: emotion Happy or Excited
Sad: The Emotion Sadness
Stressed: Putting both hands on the side of the head and shaking it to the sides
Shyness: a Timid emotion while initially looking away to show shyness
You Can Also use the most common gestures like (Welcome) or (Hello)
Waving and gesturing
Blowing Kisses: With this gesture , make sure you’re selling emotions
Blowing Kisses is great gesture if used in appropriate times.
Salute or Bow Gestures is a great way to acknowledge authority figure or Ladies
Practice these emotions while wearing your costume in front of a mirror, and get feedback from your guide/handler.
4 Pace yourself. Mascot performing is very high-energy. Your audience will expect you to keep in character, and your job is to build up the energy, engage, and entertain! make it part of the act.
5. Stay in character during the entire performance.
6.Be the personality of your character.
7. Treat everyone with respect
There are three T’s types of children that you will be Facing while mascotting
And They go This way: Terrific , Terrifying and Terrified Children

Step 3: Step Back and use the Big No gesture
Step 4: Signal to your helper or their parent
Step 5: simply walk away
With Practice you will learn to Read body language and mirror behavior You can laugh, tease and jest with them as long as it’s within the person’s comfort zone.
8. Connect with other mascots. Put yourself out there! Actively search out other mascot performers, reach out on social media, attend meet-ups, or join forums. Other mascots may have valuable performing tips and tricks that will help you tremendously and it is always nice to make new friends!
10.Prop usage can be spontaneous or planned
Here is a prop usage demonstration from the few props we found in the Studio. Always remember to be creative and relate the props to the daily usage or perhaps you could pretend to be a child that is trying to use these props in a funny and pleasant way. Take on that challenge in good spirits and you will be a highly effective mascot.
