Forging an epic fantasy sword, the complete movie.

The sword is made of pattern welded steel is has 432 layers, 1.2767 - 45NiCrMo16 and 1.2842 -90MnCrV8 steel. These two steels give a very good contrast but can be a bit tricky to harden as one of them is a air hardening steel. The result is a very strong and hard-hitting blade, the sword will be Raven themed, the final blade length will be around 1 meter, 5 cm at base.

The black crow cross-guard is made from leaf spring, brazed with bronze lines.

The handle is build up from different parts, 2 bolsters and 2 wood handle pieces. The upper handle piece is wire wrapped, I use thick wire for this, as I like the rugged less mechanical look of it in comparison with thin silver wire.
The bottom one is leather wrapped.
The sculptured pommel is made out of two pieces of steel. Welded together in the center. The eyes in the raven heads are cast bronze. The complete sword is about 126 cm in length, the blade length is around 100 cm.

The sword stand is made from forged mild steel. The base is oak, burned black to fit the style of the sword and total dark ages fantasy theme.
