INDIAN CLUBS | Sorenson Buława or Bulava.
The Buława or Bulava is type of mace 50–80 cm long and consists of a handle and head shaped like a sphere or octahedron. During the 13th century, the Bulava became widespread in Poland, Ukraine, and subsequently Hungary and Germany, first as a weapon and then as a representation of power.
Traditionally made from wood or metal and decorated with intricate designs, the Buława was used in close combat to deliver heavy blows to an opponent. Its weight and size made it a formidable weapon in battle, and it could easily crush an enemy's skull or break their bones.
The Buława was a military favourite of the cavalry and light infantry. It eventually became a symbol of high military rank in Poland from the 15th to 18th centuries. Today, a ceremonial Bulava is still used as an official emblem of the President of Ukraine and is kept in the Vernadsky National Library.
Overall, the Buława is an important part of military history, and its use in battle speaks to the strength and skill of the warriors who wielded it.
It's worth mentioning that the traditional Buława is a single object that serves both military and ceremonial purposes.
A pair of Buławas can be used for exercise, inspired by club swinging styles from India and Persia.
Bill and Steph Sorenson made Buławas I’m swinging in this video. They feature a concrete head and a bamboo handle, weight 2kg each.
