The Hare Hunt - Secrets, Hidden Options, and Roleplaying | Did You Know?

Poachers ravage the Talmberg forest and Huntsman Nicholas is helpless to stop them. Rumours abound of the return of Hannekin Hare and his magical powers. Henry must either infiltrate them or otherwise find the location of their camp. But there's more than meets the eye to this story.

00:18 - A hare brained scheme
Henry comes across village gossip about poachers causing strife in the woods. Huntsman Nicholas sems unable to cope and seeks Henry's help.

01:30 - Infiltrating the poachers
The most straightfoward approach is to simply infiltrate the group by leveraging Innkeeper Andrew's influence as a customer. This path is generally focused on skill requirements and hunting skill and traits to obtain deer antlers are necessary to pass.

But eventually Henry is accepted into the group and told the location of their camp. At this point he has the option of betraying them to the guard or joining their camp.

07:29 - Hidden Quest - "Emergency Supply"
After the attack on the camp the poachers scatter but Black Lukesh needs help in finding his hidden stash he keeps for emergencies.

09:24 - Tom o' the Baths
Rumours in Talmberg village also speak of Tom o' the Baths drunkenly boasting holding about a venison feast in the woods. He denies it of course.

Henry's investigative skills eventually turn up deer bones at the site of the feast and identify Jake Piper as the accomplice. The final nail is finding the evidence of Tom butchering a deer carcass at the baths.

Tom crumbles and points to a member of the poaching group. Pressure on the charcoal burner then reveals where the poachers are camping out.

13:24 - Hidden Option - Get the truth out of Margaret
Digging into the rumours of Hare's return brings up fantastical nonsense about magical powers and what not. But as is often the case, there is a kernel of truth to rumours.

Hannekin Hare, Nicholas, and Margaret were involved in a three way relationship at the time of Hare's imprisonment and Hare made himself known to Margaret on his return with promiss that they could elope together if she wanted.

It was a trap of course, Hare wanted to lure Nicholas out into the open. But the details of his story convince Henry to join his cause.

Nicholas signs a confession of his entrapment of Hare in exchange for safe passage for himself and Margaret.

24:14 - Conclusion
With the confession in hand, Hare's crimes are exonerated and he leaves with his honour restored.

But what about the position of Huntsmaster for Talmberg Castle? The now empty position is offered to Henry as a reward for his role in restoring justice and as a recognition of his hunting abilities.

Henry now holds the positions of Huntsman of Talmberg and Champion of the Rattay Tourney, making him a trusted member of Sir Divish's, Sir Hanush's, and Sir Radzig's retinues.
