Machining a Samurai 120 component on the Samurai 120

Описание к видео Machining a Samurai 120 component on the Samurai 120

Real part - Cylinder mount for Samurai 120 BT30 Spindle

Video structure:

PRE OP - A random collection of test cuts using different machining strategies including a slower manual machining style, and slotting with a 16mm end mill. Despite the stock sticking out 120mm from the vise and 130mm gauge length on the tool, the Samurai was able to take cuts many thought were impossible.

OP1 - The roughing operations were completed using a 3 year old 12mm (1/2") Merlin end mill with 2 chipped cutting edges. Its common in the real world for companies to try and save costs by re using old tools for roughing, so its good to see how the Samurai performs under these conditions.

Cycle time excluding logo: 11:34 (with room for program optimization)

OP2 - Facing the other side to reveal the final part. Excess chatter caused by not cutting the bore through the stock in OP1

*Prototype ATC uses 3D printed components for fatigue testing. Production model will feature titanium components.
