Before going far, if there is one thing I can't wrap my head around on this short drive was the average fuel consumption showing 5L/100km. It is reported that it can do 5.7L/100km extra-urban and for a new car to show those figures I am actually surprised, expected it to be a little higher.
Overall I rate the car highly on the quality of materials used and the overall interior design. The drive is above average for the segment it's reporting in and even way better than some higher-priced vehicles.

It is going to fight hard in its segment due to its offering. We are talking reputable brands, Toyota Urban Cruise(or Suzuki Vitara Brezza), VW T-Cross, Nissan Magnite (or Renault Kiger), Kia Sonet. I mean the size of the pie is quite big and getting bigger by day. The cars in this segment are priced between R250K and R320K (Except the T-Cross which I will exclude from this going forward as its lowest spec starts at the Highest Spec Tiggo 4pro) from low to top spec. The Tiggo 4pro's price tag is in the mix but the ones with all the bells and whistles are at the top end and outside the range at R320K for Elite Manual, R350K, and R360K for Elite CVT and Elite SE CVT respectively.

This will make you think, wait, why do I need to spend an additional R40K on it if I can get say Kia Sonet for R305K? Well, let's see what more you get?

1. Most Powerful - 1.5T 108kw/210nm (Kia follows with 85Kw and 144nm N/A engine which consequently matches the lowest spec Tiggo 4pro Urban with Power and only 3nm higher)
2. 6 airbags (All others have 2 except Renault Kiger top spec with 4 airbags), Highest warranty of
3. 5 year/60 000km service plan (followed by Kia with 4 years or 60 000km)
4. Warranty (standard 5 years 150 000km), Conditional one owner 1million Kilometre engine warranty) - Can't see that anywhere currently.
5. Hill Descent Control, Voice Control, Auto Lights and Wipers, Sunroof, full leather seats, adjustable ambient lighting (Kiger not adjustable), and Cooled Armrest bin (Only Kiger offers this but lacks things like Cruise Control).
6. Longer wheelbase (2610 while others are on 2500 - Unconfirmed research)
7. Lower ground clearance at 180mm which means improved cornering (Unconfirmed research)
8. Full leather seats.

The point is there is much more car and specs you get for your extra R40K which will easily influence a buyer to overlook the additional amount.

But there is a dark horse here, which I believe is the biggest challenger than all of them which is the Haval Jolion, looks bigger but not to be disregarded especially because people will compare Chery and Haval very very soon due to them coming with quality from China and really changing the narrative.

I was asked what would you choose between this and the Jolion. I said it depends and here is why:

Jolion sweet spot is the Luxury variant, priced at around R364K, just R4K above the Tiggo 4pro, its a segment above this one, at least to my eyes, it's a fantastic product, and its not easy to even ignore if you are looking to get a car.

The Tiggo is already winning in its segment and not everyone is looking for a bigger car. Some want space, some would really love the intimacy when alone and still be able to fit a small family. To my feet and hands, Tiggo felt to be performing much better (that means quicker) than the Jolion, only the CVT makes it louder and obviously can't beat the 7DCT's smoothness in the Jolion.

Jolion is much more whole and comfortable on the road, balancing road and wind noise better, a little bit more appealing, and offers the amazing panoramic sunroof which many may not believe is a key factor but go ask VW whats the most requested option you will see.

Overall I think this is where the boxing match is really getting hot depending on what exactly one is looking for, I am also seeing the two being put in one sentence and it's going to be a serious fight!
