(SM64DS) Footrace with Koopa the Quick + 100 coins in

This video is a TAS, and was made to figure out whether mario or yoshi was faster for BoB. So we tried different routes, such as this one. The bad news is that this sick TAS will not be in the 150 run. The good news is that it's because an even sicker TAS has been made by Really_Tall for BoB 100+reds as Yoshi (   • [TAS] Super Mario 64 DS - 100 Coins &...  ). For the ktq+100 route to be faster, we would need to save about 9 seconds from this TAS, which will probably not happen (though Speedrunning proved itself to be quite good at surpassing my expectations).

At the beginning, I wanted to collect all three coins from the orange box without losing a second, so I tased the part without caring about coins then I tried different RNG values to get all three coins. But I quickly realized I couldn't do it by myself, so I coded a Lua script to do it for me. It would start from 0 and increase until it found a solution. After 990 tries, it worked. Im pretty proud of myself ngl. (the lua code can be found at the end of the description)

At the time I made this TAS, I took the Wario cap to pound the poles instantly, but maybe now with pause clips, you could clip inside the pole and activate the coins really quickly (by running around very very close to the center).

This whole route revolved around getting the sky coins without using a cannon, otherwise KtQ would accuse you of cheating, even if you touched the flag before entering any cannon. I tried various routes, and noticed that you could barely collect 6 coins in a single swing for each rings, so I tried to do that as often as I could. I had to collect pretty much every coin available to be able to reach 100 coins. (I didn't collect one of the center coins because that would activate the secrets star's cutscene).

I had already tried to TAS ktq+100 a year or two ago, but it ended up being very slow. And this time, I saved more than 30 seconds from my previous attempt. By the way, this is my third TAS of this star. I don't have the first one anymore, but here's what the second TAS looked like: (   • BoB ktq+100 2:20.49  ). Note that I had to hack the coin count because the RNG wasn't good enough, so there's a cut. However the time is what you would get if there was no cuts at all.)
