Senegal's Prime Minister, Ousmane Sonko, delivered a fiery speech on Thursday, where he took shots at France. He questioned why, after more than 60 years of Senegal's independence from France, the former coloniser was still benefitting from military bases in the country. France has between 350 and 400 troops stationed in Senegal. Senegal's coup-hit neighbours Mali, Niger and Burkina Faso have already removed French bases from their country. Could Senegal be next? And Sonko did not stop at criticising the military bases. He also questioned the CFA franc, Senegal's currency that is pegged to the Euro.
