I show how this beautiful combination padlock with false gates can be decoded / opened / cracked without knowing the combination (start at 2:45) - it's a Yale model Y150/40. With some attention to the feedback it's not too difficult and great fun. The secret is to interpret the feedback of false / true gates correctly as this can be superimposed by the friction of the inner wheels or reduced by wheels binding with low intensity.
