From my point of view this video belongs to both concepts that I share and describe as “Ambient Guitar” and “Depressionism”.

When I think about Ambient guitar music and Ambient music in general the first thing that comes to my mind is “ambiance” and “space”… I don’t think Ambient music should spin around soundscapes and textures only… No. What really matters is the feeling of “ambient”. This is also often what can be described as “slow music”.

As for Depressionism it speaks for itself. Slow, dull, gloomy and deadly sad). This time I “painted” video in a colorful and saturated way – just to make a counterpoint for fun)))

Some technical details: Usually when it is about a piezo-acoustic (steel or nylon) switched into Aura DI I would prefer to record three channels – clear guitar + wet left and right. It gives a wider potential for better mix later on post. Here I used “blend” knob to mix signals right on the Aura DI and recorded only wet effected signal. Just to make things simple. If you use so much delay and reverb all that you finally get is an extremely washed sound. It means that a lot of natural colors of your guitar sound will be highly modified and sound much different comparing to the clear signal. I was glad with the final signal’s character and left it as it was.

Effects hint:
Fishman Aura Spectrum DI – Concert #5, blend to “10 hours”
Strymon TimeLine - reverse delay
Strymon BigSky - cloud reverb

Thanks for watching!
