Sam Smith: A case study in what happens if you’re not a bulletproof singer.
Don’t get me wrong, I love Sam Smith, but he’s a cautionary tale. 😭

Why? Because while people love his sound, it’s landed him with the same serious vocal injury TWICE!!! (He suffered a vocal hemorrhage in 2015 and again in 2023)

He’s built his career on tension, strain and an unsustainable sound. And it’s cost him canceling show/tours, millions of dollars, the livelihoods of all those people. . .

But the worst cost? Confidence.

Having to walk up to that mic every time he sings and wonder if he’s singing correctly or if he’s gonna injure himself again. The fear of if he sings healthfully, will he make the same sound and will people still love it?
