Our pedagogical models are constantly evolving to become more experiential, but there is one key aspect that we tend to overlook when it comes to lived experiences in the classroom. Through a series of comic panels that mirror everyday life, Sayan explores the complexities of the emotional experiences of both students and teachers in a classroom. Sayan Chaudhuri teaches a course titled ‘Education, Literacy, and Justice’ at the Critical Writing Program in the Young India Fellowship, Ashoka University. He completed his Ph.D. in English Studies from JNU, where he studied the framing of English Studies in higher education settings, with an emphasis on how classroom experience and pedagogic practices interact with the curriculum. His research and pedagogic interests are in the fields of critical pedagogy, critical university studies, and emotions in education. He also works as a subject advisor for the development of the English curriculum at the Delhi Board of School Education (DBSE). He’s a founding member of Aaina (Insta: aaina_edu), an initiative to make critical educational perspectives more accessible to a larger public. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
