The Chances Of Sainz Driving For Red Bull Next Year Addressed

Sainz is often touted as an underrated driver who has, on multiple occasions, had to make way for high profile driver moves leaving him without a seat for the next season

His current teammate Charles Leclerc explained why he doesn't think Sainz has anything to worry about

"I don't think he's underrated for that. I think everybody knows Carlos' worth"

"That's why I've said many times that I'm not too worried about his future because I'm sure that many, many team principals are speaking with him"

"But he doesn’t say it! I'm sure he will have many opportunities"

Red Bull team principal Christian Horner directly addressed the possibility of Sainz driving for them next year after the win in Australia

"Look, I mean based on a performance like that you couldn't rule any possibility out"

"You've had a very fast unemployed driver win. The market is reasonably fluid with certain drivers"

"Carlos is the only driver that's beaten Red Bull [in the last two years], so he appears to be our nemesis"

Sainz gave his thoughts on whether he needs to prove himself in the driver market

"I think everyone knows more or less what I'm capable of doing"

"I don't race to prove to team bosses or to prove to people my value. I race to prove to myself that if i'm given a car I can get it done and I can be up there"

"That's the mentality and the approach that I have and I will keep having the rest of the year"

"In both case the problem came from a wrong setup/team choice regarding the car configuration"

McLaren's Lando Norris explained that he "was a lot quicker, and [he] would have overtaken [Oscar Piastri] anyway"

"For any driver who's racing in front of their home fans, you want to be on the podium. I wouldn’t ever take anything away from that"

Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton stated that "this is the worst start to a season I’ve ever had. It’s tough on the spirit!"

Red Bull's Max Verstappen suggested that they "knew a day like this could come at some point"

"So we need to be proud that we have had a great run with nine races in a row and we can come back stronger for Suzuka"

Teammate Sergio Perez added that "it is a bit track dependent, so hopefully when we are back in Suzuka, we are back on top"

Mercedes driver George Russell explained that he "was half-a-second behind Fernando [Alonso] 100 metres before the corner and then suddenly he came back towards me extremely quickly"

"It was clear that he braked earlier than he had done on previous laps and then got back on the throttle"

Alonso, meanwhile, is "a bit surprised by a penalty at the end of the race regarding how we should approach the corners or how we should drive the race cars" [Personal Statement]

"We never drive at 100 percent every race lap and every corner – we save fuel, tyres, brakes, so being responsible for not making every lap the same is a bit surprising"

Did Fernando Alonso deserve the penalty for the incident with George Russell?
