The full braking capability of almost any vehicle is an amazing experience for an amateur driver, even though it's something not many utilize. With the right method, it is easy to steadily build confidence in you and your vehicles braking capabilities in an effective and safe manner as Tim from RaceCraft explains.

You'll learn how a simple track walk and/or use of video footage will help you identify your braking markers, where you need to be conservative and where you really need to commit to improving your braking performance as a driver along with what limits you will discover which will tell you that you are on the right path.

We're going to use Cosworth's PI Toolbox for comparison between two drivers braking points to show you how you can use data from a driver of greater skill than you help even the playing field, and the analysis shown will apply to any data software of your choosing.

You can apply these same braking marker techniques from real-world driving through to sim racing, and while there is generally less embarrassment or financial pain when you get it all wrong on iRacing or Assetto Corsa, as Tim mentions it is a good habit to check your mirrors and make sure they're clear before starting to dial in your track markers, especially while they are conservative.
