SIU raids refugee centres around the country

Sixty officials working at the Desmond Tutu Refugee Centre in Marabastad, are persons of interest in the Special Investigative Unit's probe of maladministration and corruption linked to the fraudulent issuing of documents.

Search and seizure operations have been conducted at five refugee centres, including in Musina, Cape Town, Durban, Gqeberha and Marabastad to gather evidence. SIU Head, Advocate Andy Mothibi, and Home Affairs Minister, Dr Aaron Motsoaledi, believe there is a syndicate and organised crime operating at these centers.
