The Men’s Shot Put event got going at 13:54 (local time) at Hayward Field, Eugene, Oregon on August 21, 2021. The temperature range that day was between 13°C - 26°C (55°F - 78°F), the City of Eugene is located at an Altitude of 131 meters (430 feet) above sea level.

The event featured a strong field of seven athletes, five of them Tokyo Olympic Finalists: former North Dakota State University Bison Payton Otterdahl (USA), Darlan Romani (Brazil), Olympic Bronze Medalist Tomas Walsh (New Zealand), Olympic Silver Medalist Joe Kovacs (USA), the Olympic Champion Ryan Crouser (USA).

Side Note: Crouser is a 2X Olympic Champion (Tokyo, and Rio), and the World Record holder in the Shot Put both Outdoor and Indoor. End of Side Note.

Former University of Texas Longhorn Star Ryan Crouser continued on the path of his Olympic Success two weeks earlier by throwing 23.15 meters, good enough for the Win, and a Diamond League Record, as well as a Meet Record. His mark represented a decrease in distance of 0.94% with respect to his Personal Best of 23.37 meters (World Record @ 2021 US Olympic Trials).
