A river that flows through 10 countries, starting from Germany's Black Forest and ending in the Black Sea, the Danube is the second-longest river in Europe. Flowing through much of Central and South-eastern Europe, no other river in the world runs through as many countries making it so unique. Containing rich history from World War II and beyond, to offering a variety of wildlife, the Danube is truly an impressive sight. Nick Thorpe takes us on a journey up and down the Danube to explore all the greatness that it holds.

Winter in the delta. Dalmatian pelicans with their magnificent red beaks, the biggest birds in Europe, swim on the open water. We travel to Sfantu Gheorghe - the southernmost tip of the Delta, where the land ends and the Danube begins. With stunning drone photography, we explore the humour and hardness of life of the last fisherman of the delta.
