Making a backplate which fits a 4-jaw independent lathe chuck to the Proxxon PD 250/e using 42CrMo4 engineering steel.

A 4-jaw independent chuck is a vital piece of lathe equipment, but finding
the right chuck for this lathe took me a while. I finally found one light enough to be useable while still being extremely capable. To ensure the best possible performance the back plate needs to be very rigid, but on a small lathe like this it can't be too heavy.

Working on a part this big, made of tough material was a huge challenge on a Very Small Lathe. Check out the problems I faced, and how I overcame them in this video.
