We spend 7 days exploring THE BEST OF CROATIA! We start our CROATIAN ROAD TRIP in Istria, then head to Split and Hvar, before ending in Dubrovnik. We enjoy tasting olive oil and trying the best wines on a self-guided CROATIAN WINE TOUR. And of course our trip wouldn’t be complete without trying some DELICIOUS CROATIAN FOOD any chance we get!

On this episode of Mapping It, we start our adventure by crossing the border from Slovenia into Croatia and check into our Airbnb in Rovinj.After a quick tour of our Airbnb, we head to a tour of the olive groves of Brist Olive Oil, a wonderful family-run Istrian olive oil company. One of the owners, Paul, takes us on a guided tour of the olive groves. Around sunset, we enjoy a guided olive oil tasting right in the olive groves!


Our first full day in Croatia starts early with a drive to Pula. After spending a couple hours wandering around town, we visit the House of Istrian Olive Oil where we enjoy a CROATIAN OLIVE OIL TASTING before getting back on the road.

We continue our ISTRIA ROAD TRIP by visiting Motovun and enjoying a self-guided CROATIAN WINE TOUR at two of the BEST WINERIES IN ISTRIA: Kabola Winery and Kozlovic Winery.


We get an early start on day 2 of our Croatian road trip and we’re on the road by 6:30am. After a very long drive from Rovinj, we finally make it to PLITVICE LAKES NATIONAL PARK. We spend the morning exploring the Lower Lakes, and the afternoon exploring the Upper Lakes. It’s a great way to spend a day in Croatia! We end our day in Split with an incredible dinner at Kitchen 5, which we highly recommend!


On day 3 of our 7 day Croatian road trip, we explore Split! Getting an early start to the day, we explore the ruins of Diocletian’s Palace before the crowds set in. Then we enjoy a delicious breakfast at Ciri Biri Bella. After breakfast, we visit the cellars of Diocletian’s Palace and see a Game of Thrones filming location. After a stop in at Uje Oil Bar for an olive oil tasting, we venture outside Split to the nearby Klis Fortress, another Game of Thrones filming location. In the evening, we hike up Marjan Hill for some golden hour views overlooking Split before we end the day at our Airbnb that just happens to have epic sunset views overlooking the old town.


Day 4 of our epic adventure takes us to the island of Hvar. We spend the day biking around Hvar, eating incredible Croatian food at Hora Hvar, and swimming at the beach!


We leave Split and head to Dubrovnik on day 5 of our Croatian road trip. We take you on a tour of our Airbnb in the heart of Old Town Dubrovnik. It has a rooftop terrace with an epic view! Then we head out of the city for a delicious PEKA DINNER at Konoba Dubrava where we have roasted lamb and octopus cooked under an iron dome.


Day 6 of our epic Croatian road trip has us exploring the city of Dubrovnik, the pearl of the Adriatic. We start early with a morning walk along the old town walls. We visit Taj Mahal for a delicious Bosnian meat feast for lunch! In the afternoon, we hit up Banje Beach for a relaxing swim in the sea. For dinner, we stop by Fast Food Republic (also known as Burger House Republic) for some unique and delicious burgers in Dubrovnik. We finish our day with an epic sunset from Mount Srd, so stick around!


On our last full day in Croatia, day 7 of our incredible Croatian road trip, we start our day by exploring Dubrovnik outside the city walls. We visit some famous Game of Thrones filming locations near Pile Gate, and then visit Fort Lovrijenac, also known as the Fort of St Lawrence. When the rain comes, we head out of the city for a road trip along the Pelješac Peninsula where we visit two famous wineries. Our first stop is Matusko Winery, one of Croatia’s top producers. Our second stop is Grgic Winery, where Croatian wine was put on the map. We wrap up our last day in Croatia with a dinner at Konoba Jesuite and watch the sunset from the roof of our Airbnb in Dubrovnik.


We wrap up our time in Croatia by sitting on the Iron Throne before heading to the airport in Dubrovnik.
