Arogya Sakhi Animation - Breastfeeding

ARMMAN sends critical preventive care information on pregnancy and infancy directly to the phones of the women enrolled in programs such as mMitra and Kilkari. However, in specific rural and tribal pockets in Maharashtra with poor tele-connectivity and weak mobile penetration we encode the mMitra calls on the tablets provided to female health workers (Arogya Sakhis), along with 18 animation videos for counselling on maternal and child care and nutrition. The Arogya Sakhis play these videos for the women according to their gestational age or the age of the infant during the home visits, using them as an effective counseling tool.

This animated video shows the right method to breastfeed to ensure that the baby consumes the mother’s milk properly. It also highlights the importance of breastmilk and how it is best to avoid feeding the baby anything apart from the mother’s milk for the first six months after birth.
