More than 2,400 protesters have been arrested in connection with Gaza war protests on US college campuses, including at Columbia University and UCLA. There were at least 56 arrests reported in New York City on Friday morning, as NYPD dismantled demonstrator encampments at NYU and The New School. More than 200 protesters were arrested on the UCLA campus earlier this week during violent clashes with law enforcement and a standoff that lasted nine hours.

The protests stem from the war in Gaza between Israel and Hamas.
