Yeonmi Park, a former North Korean defector turned YouTuber, author, and activist, has made startling revelations about North Korea's supreme leader, Kim Jong-un, and his alleged "pleasure squad".

According to Ms. Park, Kim Jong-un selects 25 virgin girls annually for his "pleasure squad", following a tradition initiated by his father, Kim Jong-il, in the 1970s. The selection process involves meticulous scrutiny of the girls' appearance, political loyalty, and family background.

The process begins with Kim's team scouring every classroom and schoolyard across North Korea to identify the prettiest girls. Preference is given to those with slender figures and "Western-looking" features. Subsequently, the selected girls undergo thorough physical and medical examinations to ensure their virginity. Even minor "defects" disqualify them.

Once cleared, the girls are divided into groups specializing in massages, performances, and intimate relations. Those chosen for intimacy are trained to please Kim and other high-ranking officials.

The "pleasure squad" membership is considered an honor, offering protection from poverty and hunger. However, it comes at the cost of sacrificing personal autonomy and enduring exploitation.

Ms. Park revealed that girls typically retire from the squad in their mid-twenties, often marrying members of the security services as arranged by the regime.

While many parents reluctantly allow their daughters to join the squad due to fear and poverty, Ms. Park herself escaped such a fate despite being scouted twice due to her family history.

These revelations shed light on the dark underbelly of North Korea's oppressive regime, highlighting the exploitation and abuse faced by its citizens, particularly young women.
