Welcome to my channel and today’s oddly satisfying video is about forging technology and among them we like to show you pneumatic forging hammer technique which makes forging more safe, affordable and fast. Let’s gain some information about forging.
Forging is a manufacturing process by which metal is pressed under great pressure into high strength desired parts. The process is normally performed hot by preheating the metal to a desired temperature before it is worked.
Forging techniques are useful for working metal because they enable the desired shape to be given to the steel and also improve its structure, especially because they refine its grain size. Due to the realigning of the grains of metal when heated and deformed, forgings can withstand extreme pressure and maintain structural integrity under stress.
Forging process is quite a hazardous process. When forging there are obvious risks of fire and burns. In a forging workshop, fires can happen at any time. Beside that another problem that can arise when forging is smoke and gas poisoning, Carbon Monoxide is extremely dangerous and even cause a fatality.
A forging press is a process that uses a vertical ram to apply gradual controlled pressure to a die holding a workplace. The process is similar to drop forging but uses slow pressure instead of a series of blows. There are several methods for creating force using a forging press. The four main methods are:
Mechanical,
Hydraulic,
Servo,
Pneumatic.
The force of a pneumatic press comes from compressed air or a gas, which is forced into a cylinder connected to the ram. When the cylinder is filled, the pressure from it forces the downward movement of the ram. The ram releases when the air or gas is released through an escape valve.
