When Vanessa Ruck was hit by a car whilst out cycling 10 years ago it looked like her love for sports and adventure could be over. Not for Vanessa though, she had other ideas. She had countless surgeries, many setbacks, now, she is about to become the first British woman to finish a 4000 mile motorbike race across the deserts of North Africa.

Sarah Smith reports: "The joy of crossing the finishing line, but what a journey it's been to get here. Not just the 6500 kilometres of this, a gruelling race across the desert, but years of recovery. Being hit by a car left Vanessa Ruck with life changing injuries, but also a determination to find a new way to live".
