Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage vs. Elephant Transit Home | Which one to AVOID! | Sri Lanka 🇱🇰

We're lucky that Sri Lanka is the home to thousands of Wild Elephants, unfortunately the hotels in the Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage area have decided that it's not enough to see animals in the wild. The so called orphanage actually keeps elephants in captivity, and continues to breed more into captivity without neutering them so they can continue shows and profits, similar to what SeaWorld does in America. If you look closely behind the scenes, many of the elephants in Pinnawela are chained to the river so tourists can get the perfect instagram selfie in the swimming pool or hot tub with Elephants in the background.

Avoid Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage at all costs, including the hotels in the region. Instead, if you want to support a great cause, go see the Elephants in the wild on Safari in the National Parks such as Minneriya or Udawalawe. Or visit the Elephant Transit Home which is featured here in this video, and where they release the Elephants as soon as they can survive on their own! Also if you want to help, you can either donate infant formula, or write to Nestle LK and ask them to donate!
