I recently tried the new Airport Lounge at Bengaluru and saw everyone was entering for free using a credit card

But then who’s paying for the unlimited food and recliners you get

Well it all starts with the bank issuing credit cards with lounge access to frequent flyers who are likely to spend well

Then there are aggregators like Dreamfolks and Priority Pass which buy lounge visits in bulk

the bank pays the aggregator every time you swipe your credit card to enter the lounge

Banks hope that once you use their card for lounge, you’ll use it for other purchases as well. And that’s when they’ll collect annual fees, processing fees, and even penalties for late payment.

It’s all about getting you habitual in the loop of spending more and making purchases on credit.

Airport lounges aren't exactly free, you end up paying for it with your increased spending habits in the future.
