LIVE: Japan's Prime Minister Fumio Kishida Address the US Congress in Joint Meeting

Japan's Prime Minister Fumio Kishida is addressing a joint meeting of the US Congress in Washington DC today (April 11, 2024). This comes a day after the Japanese government upgraded Tokyo's security alliance with the United States. America's Vice President Kamala Harris will precede the meeting. This marks a significant moment in the US-Japan diplomatic ties as Prime Minister Kishida is the second-only Japanese Head of State to be conferred with the honour of addressing a session of the US Congress. Japan's longest serving Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was the first Japanese PM to have addressed the Congress in 2015.
