Описание к видео Propaganda – The Art of Deceit | Tatsiana Andrushka | TEDxTumskiBridge

The talk discusses the difference between propaganda and advertising, and how propaganda is used to manipulate and brainwash people through unfair comparisons, smearing, and lying. Propaganda is imposing and wipes away other opinions, while advertising presents information and allows for access to alternative views. The speaker also provides examples of propaganda throughout history and offers methods for spotting brainwashing techniques such as red herrings, straw man arguments, whataboutism, and causal oversimplification. The speaker concludes by suggesting that anything we watch, read, or listen to is likely to be biased, and it is important to be aware of manipulation tactics in order to make informed decisions. A passionate linguist, working as a speechwriter, translator, and teacher.
