“Your new rank, however, does not send you out to your last patrol. You still have much work to do, missions to accomplish, service to be selflessly rendered to the people you have sworn to protect with your lives," President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. said as he administered the oath of office to the newly promoted Generals and Flag Officers of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) at the Ceremonial Hall in Malacañan Palace on May 13, 2024.

The Commander-in-Chief emphasized the importance of merit and competence in the Armed Forces, highlighting the tradition of advancement through hard work and dedication.

Addressing the newly promoted officers, President Marcos Jr. reminded them that their elevated ranks signify not just recognition but also increased responsibility.

He urged them to view the stars on their shoulders not merely as symbols of rank but as reminders of the hopes and aspirations of the Filipino people.

"The stars on your shoulders do not indicate rank but are reminders of the burden you have to carry. The more stars there are, the heavier the responsibility," he underscored.

With the nation facing complex security challenges, the President called on senior officers to exhibit bold thinking and brave action in addressing these issues.

He expressed confidence in their ability to meet the demands of their positions, drawing on their experience and dedication to duty.

"Huwag natin silang biguin. Iyan ang kapalit ng bago niyong ranggo. Iyan ang sukli sa kanilang pananalig sa inyo," President Marcos Jr. concluded in his speech.
