2024 Xiaomi SU7 Max in-depth Walkaround

The Xiaomi SU7 represents a significant milestone as the debut battery electric full-size sedan from the renowned Chinese company Xiaomi. Manufactured under contract by BAIC Off-road in Beijing, this vehicle embodies Xiaomi's foray into the automotive industry.

Offering versatility, the powertrain of the SU7 presents two options to cater to varying preferences. One can opt for the rear-wheel-drive (RWD) configuration equipped with a 220 kW motor or choose the all-wheel-drive (AWD) setup boasting a maximum power of 495 kW (220 kW + 275 kW). The battery pack options include the LFP variant sourced from BYD for the more economical trim and the ternary NMC option from CATL for those seeking a higher-end experience.

In terms of performance metrics, the SU7 impresses with a curb weight ranging from 1,980 kg for the base model to 2,205 kg for the top trim. The vehicle's top speed is capped at 210 km/h for the lower trim and reaches an impressive 265 km/h for the highest trim level. Notably, the SU7 lineup comprises three versions: SU7, SU7 Pro, and SU7 Max, with select trims featuring an active rear wing for enhanced aerodynamics.

Under the hood, the electric motor model TZ220XS000, manufactured by United Automotive Electronics Co., Ltd., powers the SU7, complemented by advanced features like the ETC function. This system enables seamless toll payment on toll roads, enhancing convenience for drivers.

Inside the cabin, the SU7 boasts an in-car system powered by Xiaomi's proprietary HyperOS, an in-house developed operating system designed to seamlessly integrate with both smartphones and automobiles. Scheduled to commence mass production in December 2023, with deliveries slated for February 2024, the SU7 signifies Xiaomi's commitment to innovation and excellence in the automotive sector. Already, the BAIC Off-road Vehicle Co. factory in Beijing has initiated trial production of the SU7, with numerous test vehicles successfully rolling off the assembly line, signaling the imminent arrival of this groundbreaking electric sedan.
