Total overhaul of a family guitar that had been totally destroyed , by neglect, damage and poor repairs. This required a tremendous amount of work to bring it back to life. One of the things I talked about right away, was that I would take on the repair as long as he let me treat it like the violin repair world, where instead of trying to make the instrument look brand new and every repair invisible, I would repair and rebuild it, but not hide the repairs or scars. Repairs are part of the life of any old instrument and when they are done well, there's no reason to hide them and pretend they're not there. To make this instrument look new would have required a new top, sides and neck, which would have not been the same guitar anymore.
