Westward Television was the first ITV franchise-holder for the South West of England. It held the franchise from 29 April 1961 until 31 December 1981 and was set up by Peter Cadbury (the great-grandson of Cadbury Chocolate's founder, John Cadbury). It was then replaced by Television South West (TSW), which broadcasted from 1 January 1982 until 31 December 1992. TSW got replaced by Westcountry on 1 January 1993. Westcountry lost its on-air identity on 27 October 2002 (since known as ITV at all times).
