Close encounter with Lions and Tigers in India.

Our video today is about people having close encounters with lions and tigers. Sassan Gir, a village located on the buffer zone between Gir National Park and the town of Junagadh, is one of the most unique villages in India.

Due to its close proximity to the national park, the village often gets unusual guests – the lions. For some, this is definitely surprising, but for the residents of this village, it has become something of a common occurrence. All one can do is maintain a safe distance.

Lions in Gir National Park in India have gained a reputation for being relatively tolerant of human presence, including tourists. Having said that no one should make a mistake of approaching these lions, they are wild animals and are very dangerous.

They typically do not view humans as prey. However, there have been rare instances of lion attacks on humans in the vicinity of the park.

For workers passing through Gir Forest, several challenges and considerations exist. Encounters with these lions can pose risks, especially if workers are unaware or unprepared. While the likelihood of a dangerous encounter is relatively low, workers still need to be cautious and follow safety guidelines.

The tigers are considered a lot more dangerous both for tourists and local community as compared to lions. Tigers are solitary hunters, whereas lions are social animals that live in prides. This means that tigers are more accustomed to hunting and killing prey on their own, which may make them more aggressive towards humans who inadvertently enter their territory.

Historically, there have been more incidents of tiger attacks on humans in India compared to lion attacks. This may be due to factors such as the distribution of tiger habitats overlapping with human settlements and agricultural areas, as well as the solitary nature and territorial behaviour of tigers.
