Back in 2011, Jeri Ellsworth was hired by Gabe Newell to start a team of hardware engineers at Valve Software. This team then were some of the first in the world to experiment with high-end Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, and much more. She was then fired in 2013 during a mass layoff that forever changed the company for the worse.

As stated in the interview, when Valve fires someone, they offer to pay them a severance in exchange for a signed exit NDA, disallowing anything to be said publicly about their time at Valve, positive or negative. Jeri is the first person I've yet spoken to who refused to money to get the truth out into the public, and the result was the most candid, honest, and eye-opening interviews I have yet conducted on the topic of Valve Software.

This is nearly the full interview, with only small bits requiring to be cut in order to protect specific people still at Valve. Originally stated to be a 45-minute interview, Jeri and I talked about Valve, Augmented Reality, and her new company Tilt-5 for nearly two hours. This is that conversation.
