This bug has travelled far, and now that it's here, it's causing quite a stir. It's the South American Palm Weevil, and it's taking up shop on top of palm trees, specifically, the Canary Island Date Palm, where it starts it's path to destruction. If you suspect your palm trees have been infested or would like more information, call the Insect/Bee hotline at 1-800-200-2337, or email us at [email protected]. Also, visit UC Riverside's website, cisr.ucr.edu/palmarum.html/, to report an infestation and upload pictures of the South American Palm Weevil from your palm tree.
