Ocean County - Lakewood - Two Alarms - 226 Cedar Bridge Ave -

Just around 2:30 AM, Lakewood got a call for a reported apartment fire on the second floor of a multiple dwelling. Engine 5 was first due and reported heavy smoke coming from the second story and that they would be stretching a 1.3/4 line up to the fire apartment. Shortly after C-1 arrived and let E-5 know that the fire was already venting the C side windows. Shortly after it broke the roof line and started shooting out the roof, while E-5 was still making a push into the fire apartment trying to knock down all the fire. As E-1 got on the scene they also stretched a backup line to the exposure apartment. Crews working inside let C-1 know that they had extension to a second apartment and it was also blowing out the roof. The second alarm was called to bring in more manpower. Crews didn't stop fighting and were able to make a good knock in both units to stop the spread of the fire into the next building. A third line was stretched due to finding fire inside a soffit just at the firewall. They quickly knocked that so it didn't spread. Crews worked for hours on overhaul and fire suppression. The cause of this fire is unknown at this time.
