Magneton: The Least Interesting Pokémon in RBY?

We've gone from talking about individual types to talking about individual Pokémon, specifically a Pokémon that I thought had absolutely nothing going for it, that being Magneton!

Magneton is a seemingly incredibly basic Pokémon, with one of the most barren movepools in the game and some fairly awkward stats, but is it really as truly unremarkable as it seems at a glance?
