30 years of Roja | Shocked film industry, transformed film music forever | Rahman Music Sheets 50

The 50th episode of Rahman Music Sheets celebrates 30 years of Roja.
The music of Roja by @ARRahman was path-breaking from the word go; its sound was and continues to be astonishingly fresh even after 30 years. With Roja, AR Rahman transformed the very syntax of Indian film songs. He effectively discarded the templatized music of the 1980s.

Besides Mani Ratnam and AR Rahman, this special episode features Subhash Ghai, Ram Gopal Varma, Shyam Benegal, Deepa Mehta, Shekhar Kapur, Andrew Llyod Webber, Ashutosh Gowariker, Ahmed Khan, Kavita Krishnamurti, Alka Yagnik, Sadhana Sargam and Hariharan.

Roja (Director - Mani Ratnam, Starring Arvind Swami, Madhu, Pankaj Kapoor) was released on 15th August 1992.
