Genome wide association studies | Introduction to genomics theory | Genomics101 (beginner-friendly)

Описание к видео Genome wide association studies | Introduction to genomics theory | Genomics101 (beginner-friendly)

We continue the beginner-friendly lecture series introducing basic concepts in #genomics, with a focus on single nucleotide polymorphism (#SNP) data. In this part, we talk about genome-wide association studies, often abbreviated as #GWAS. It is a very popular group of methods that are used to pinpoint genomic regions that influence certain traits and phenotypes. The outputs are the so-called #ManhattanPlots you have surely seen already.

While the basic concept is fairly simple, you will see that there is a number of other issues to consider, such as false positive and false negative results using correction for multiple testing, as well as population structure.
