Ever since the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance broke off in 2019 after a dispute between the sharing of the Chief Minister's seat in Maharashtra, that resulted in the single-largest party, the BJP, remaining outside the government as an unlikely alliance of Congress, NCP & Shiv Sena formed the Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi, the MVA government, the BJP has been looking for a way to destabilise it.
The attack has been full-on on various fronts with the BJP using the Enforcement Directorate, the Central Bureau of Investigation, the Income Tax authorities and constitutional measures through its governor. The MVA government is fighting a defensive battle as its top leaders are being targeted and jailed for past crimes.
