Angry Seal Rescued from Entanglement

In this rescue Naude, Denzil and Antoine from Ocean Conservation Namibia are targeting a large female being strangled by commercial fishing line. She was sitting in a dense group of large seals, close to the water, so the guys decided that going in by car would be the best way to catch her.
Naude managed to secure her in the net, and after quite a struggle, they managed to pin her down and get to work. Some seals are quite co-operative during a rescue, but some, like this one are definitely not. She repeatedly tried to bite and throw them off. This is usually an indicator that the entanglement is quite new, and she is still full of energy. The fishing line was only wrapped around her neck a few times, but it was so tight that they needed a second tool to lift the line in order to cut it.
Even on the exit she snapped at the guys and mock charged then before returning to the safety of the ocean to enjoy her new freedom. 🦭
