Balancing a Picture with Curves and Different Masking Methods

In this edit where the light across an image is rebalanced, four different curves adjustments are used, with the curve effect constrained each time by four different ways of masking the effect, including standard mask with gradient, fill layer with gradient, rectangle with gradient, and built-in mask with painting.
