Decrypting the Puzzle of Spider Silk | Martins Otikovs | TEDxRiga

Описание к видео Decrypting the Puzzle of Spider Silk | Martins Otikovs | TEDxRiga

Don't judge the book from the cover, so the saying goes. That's definitely the case with spiders, whose webs are made of spider silk, a material with amazing mechanical properties. So common in nature, and, as it turns out, so hard to reproduce in a lab. In his talk, Martins Otikovs describes his research team's quest for producing spider silk 100% artificially.

Mārtiņš Otikovs is a structural biologist. He is particularly interested in the application of nuclear magnetic resonance to study the role of biomolecules in a variety of processes occurring in nature.

This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
