Ylang Ylang shows her class to land Fillies' Mile at Newmarket

Aidan O’Brien saddled a record-equalling sixth winner of the Group One bet365 Fillies’ Mile on day one of the Dubai Future Champions Festival at Newmarket this afternoon when Ylang Ylang (9-2) took the honours in the hands of Ryan Moore.

The daughter of Frankel had to work hard but showed a good attitude as she overhauled the two in front of her inside the furlong to go on and score by half a length. The 3-1 favourite Shuwari was second with a further three-quarters of a length back to See The Fire (4-1), who drifted left in the last quarter mile, in third.

O’Brien previous successes in the contest came courtesy of Sunspangled (1998), Listen (2007), Together Forever (2014), Minding (2015) and Rhododendron (2016). The late Sir Henry Cecil and John Gosden are the two other handlers to win the contest half a dozen times.
