Brazil players receive instructions from coach Carlos Schwanke as they battle Argentina on the opening day of the 2021 VNL.
Despite limited resources, Argentina certainly gave Brazil a run for their money - though the reigning Olympic champions eventually brought their 2021 FIVB Men's Volleyball Nations League opener home in three sets.
Here's the reaction after the game, from the virtual Mixed Zone:
Luciano De Cecco (Argentina): "We played well - we maybe even have played better than we hoped. But Brazil are an amazing team and they played really good. We had some opportunities, but we didn't manage to get a point from this match. Tomorrow we will have another difficult game and we will try to show our best volleyball and we will see. We have a small team, but maybe next week our teammates will join us. But we can play, we have no substitutions, not many options, but it's a good opportunity to play and show our skills."
Bruno Rezende (Brazil): "I think it's good to start the tournament with a win. We still have a lot to improve, we made some mistakes in our attack in the first set. My feeling with attackers isn't the best at this moment. After the first set the team played with heart and with consciousness that we have to play with less mistakes. We have to focus on tomorrow as we have another difficult match to play."
