Through her personal story as an athlete, Jenna Weiner invites us to reimagine how sports can be more gender inclusive. Drawing on examples from Ultimate Frisbee and Quidditch, she asks us to question our assumptions and rethink how we view sports. In this profound and heartfelt talk, Jenna calls us to be more gender inclusive so that everyone can fully participate in sports.

Jenna Weiner is a graduate student in Communication Studies – Gender, Race and Identity at the University of Nevada, Reno, having received her undergraduate degree from UC Berkeley. Her research focuses on issues of gender and sports, particularly those affecting transgender, non-binary, and genderqueer athletes. Jenna is best known for her online articles detailing her experiences as a transgender ultimate frisbee player. She is also known on campus for her leadership with the More Than Just Project and Trans at Nevada. Jenna is passionate about education and the equitable inclusion of all people, driving her work as a teacher, advocate, and activist. She considers any bit of progress worthwhile, holding to the tenet that over time smaller, personal change adds up to larger, societal change.
