DRIVER'S EYE VIEW - West Somerset Railway - Dunster to Washford and an interesting shunt manoeuvre

Описание к видео DRIVER'S EYE VIEW - West Somerset Railway - Dunster to Washford and an interesting shunt manoeuvre

Level crossing work near Minehead meant trains were unable to continue past Dunster to Minehead where run round facilities were available. An alternative method was required to get the train engine from one end of its rake of carriages to the other, this was achieved by using a second locomotive and a siding as shown in this video. Having completed the run round manoeuvre our train was ready to return to Bishops Lydeard. Once again we enjoy a forward view of the line as we head along the coastal section through the attractive station at Blue Anchor before turning inland at Doniford Halt to Williton, home of the “Diesel and Electric Preservation Group”. After a short stop we are on our way again climbing hard towards Washford then its downhill to Watchet. Sadly the camera battery expired before reaching Watchet. The railway is a standard gauge line, (1,435 mm - 4 ft 8 1⁄2 in) located in the South, West of England, easily accessible by car or by bus from Taunton BR station served by regular GWR trains from London and the West Country and CrossCountry trains services from the North and Midlands.
