USS Bonhomme Richard was a historic naval vessel known for its crucial role during the American Revolution. Originally a French ship named "Duc de Duras," it was acquired by the United States and renamed in honor of Benjamin Franklin.

The ship played a significant part in American maritime history and symbolized French support for American independence. It was a three-masted frigate and became famous for its epic battle with the British ship HMS Serapis in 1779, despite being less heavily armed.
