Israel says Biden’s threat to withhold arms 'very disappointing' | ADF chief rejects China spy claim

▷ U.S. President Joe Biden is threatening to withhold weapons from Israel if it proceeds with a full-scale offensive in Rafah. He says he doesn't believe the offensive has begun – but overnight, Palestinians reported Israeli attacks in areas outside the evacuation zone.

▷ Australia's defence chief has publicly responded to Beijing's accusation that a helicopter involved in a mid-air incident with a Chinese jet was spying. General Angus Campbell says the helicopter crew acted in a 'correct and disciplined' fashion, and the actions of China were unsafe and unacceptable.

▷ Russia has launched its biggest wave of air strikes in weeks, pummelling Ukraine's energy facilities nationwide. Ukraine's president described the attack as 'massive' - hitting power supply, homes and the rail network – while Russia said the strikes were retaliation for Ukraine's attack on Russian energy facilities.
